Blade Runner is the second of three films in the Southend Fringe Film Festival which explore extreme possible futures of the co-existence of man and machine. In 2019, ex-detective Rick Deckard is called out of retirement to track down and eliminate a team of humanoid androids that have escaped from an outer space mining colony in a bid to find their creator. Based on the novel “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?” by Phillip K. Dick, this mysterious neo-noir science fiction film came after the immediate success of Scott’s cinematic masterpiece Alien, in 1979.
