Puppet Festival August 2, 2014 - August 3, 2014 Free « Estuary Fringe Festival 2014 Beatmania IIDX & Pop’n Music » A weekend for the young at heart! Enjoy a classic day at the British seaside town of Southend, for some traditional seaside entertainment on the Pier! This is the 26th annual Puppet Festival on Southend Pier, having started in 1988 featuring Mr Punch. John Alexander performed Punch for 60 years before he was forced to hang up his puppets due to his health. Mr Punch has been around in England for 352 years. Brought to you by the members of the Punch & Judy Fellowship, there will be a number of traditional Punch & Judy shows performed each day by Punch & Judy Professors: Prof Jo Caroline Alexander Chris Gasper and joined by: Chippy Wood Geoff Felix Mrs Back to Back Other activities include: a colouring workshop face painting an exhibition of the history of Mr Punch including memorabilia and Balloon Modelling with Julie Blandford. 11AM - 5PM Normal pier admissions apply.
