Urban Shakedown Shakes The Town!

Saturday the 3rd of August engulfed Southend-On-Sea in yet another firing event from the Urban Shakedown promotions team. The line up of live hip-hop, drum'n'bass, grime, and breaks performers included: Day One (DJ Sykik, Shade, Big T, Decoy, Ill Giva, Dirty Society), Iron Bridge (Jibbarish, Dirty Verbals, DJ Pager), Phonetics (Full Creym, Verbal Mic, ill Son), BRB (Blade, Razor & BG), Kieron Littles alongside Word Perfect, Kommando, and DJ Trixta with DJ's Dabz & Theaker.

Once again Urban Shakedown dusted down Southend's underground with a handpicked and unbelievably talented selection of the best in urban music artists live on stage. We have been pushing the limits of Southend's underground scene with live PA's from the cream of urban musicians in the South East and will continue to bring Southend only the best in the underground party vibe.


The venue started filling up to the sounds of DJ Trixta playing an intro drum'n'bass set giving the crowd a small taste of what was yet to come. As 10:30 came around the Royal Ballroom was heaving with Shakedown party-goers, and a one-in-one-out situation on the door convinced the management to open up a second floor and hook up another set of decks to accommodate the que stretching out along the high-street!
The live acts started off with Phonetics, Verbal Mic having travelled down from Cambridge to complete the talented UK Hip-Hop trio. The crowd was treated to some excellent performances all round as well as CD giveaways from Day One and Word Perfect, along with around £1000 thrown into the crowd from the infamous BRB performers during their brilliant stage-show.

Watch out for then next exiting Urban Shakedown event taking place on Friday August the 3rd launching 3 floors, 4 rooms, and a 4am license! The photos from this event are up on DSI (click here to see them) thank you to everyone that attended and our apologies to those that couldn't get in.. we're hoping 3 floors should take care of the demand! But just in case make sure you arrive early, LIVE performances start at 10:00pm.. this is an event you need to see to believe!
