
Vintage Swimwear! - historical patterns and techniques with Jill Salen
TALK (10am - 11:15am):
There will be a talk by author and costumier Jill Salen, followed by a book signing and chance to buy Jill’s book, titled “Vintage Swimwear, Historical Patterns and Techniques”.
WORKSHOP (11:45am - 1:15pm):
After a short break following Jill Salen’s talk, there will be a practical workshop demonstration aimed at those with intermediate to advanced costume making and pattern cutting skills, focusing on the construction techniques of an authentic 1950s bathing suit. The admission charge will include tea and coffee, and a pattern taken from one of the museum’s costumes - which can be started on the day with expert help at hand.

Please note that the vintage swimwear workshop is aimed at those with intermediate/advanced costume making and/or pattern cutting skills.
The workshop will not be suitable for children.
